The congregation of the Assumption Sisters of Eldoret (ASE) was officially founded in 1962 by the late Bishop Brendan Houlihan.
It Is a local congregation under the umbrella of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret. The founder aimed for the congregation to reach out to the people of God in the locality through evangelization using the language they could understand.
For over 55 years the congregation of ASE served basically the Catholic dioceses of Eldoret where after venturing into most parishes the diocese started spreading in various dioceses of Kenya including the Catholic Diocese of Machakos where Dorothea Rescue Centre is established.
Currently, the ASE is working in 13 dioceses.
The Assumption Sisters of Eldoret are the custodians of Dorothea Rescue Centre.
